A new resource, made available by Fiontar, of Dublin City University, consists of a parallel corpus of aligned segments from Irish statutory instruments and from European Union legislation.
It can be found here.
It is a little like acmhainn.ie. It is a tool that can be used in order to find the translations of formal words, of the type that one finds in legal documents, such as the laws of Ireland and the European Union. The way it works is as follows: when one inserts the search word, the “corpus” (store) of texts, which already exists as formally quality translated parallel documents (in Irish and English), is analysed, and all happenings of that words returned, along with a section of the relevant translation. It is up to the user to identify the corrent word in the translation.
This is a great facility for formal words.
